Keep Kids Mentally Healthy (Tips for Parents) – Follow these basic tips to give your child a fighting chance against mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety and behavioral disorders. While we have little or no control over our family histories, we can do something to help prevent our kids from suffering mental illness.

Identifying Childhood Depression - The World Health Organization and the World Bank have determined that depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide in market economies among individuals 5 years and older. Yes, I said 5 years and older! The fact is that mental health problems can occur in 1 and 5 children at any given time. Learn the signs and ignore the stigma! Lets help our kids grow up happy and well adjusted.

Depression and Suicide - Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15- to 24-year-olds and the sixth leading cause of death for 5- to 14-year-olds. Attempted suicides are even more common. What every parent should know and what to do if you suspect your child is suffering.

Make Robyn’s Nest ~ The Parenting Network your HOMEpage – It’s easy! Just follow these simple instructions and it’s done!

Employment/Intern Opportunities! – As we grow and change, opportunities for employment, internships and volunteering are available. Bookmark this page. We may have work for you that can be done right from your home P.C.!

Special Thanks ~ to Kathie Moffitt, Ph.D., instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Moffitt oversees the privately funded Depression Education and Health Promotion Project – For Fifth Graders, Their Families and Their Schools. The project involves a multimedia intervention in collaboration with schools, parents and youths. She currently serves as a member of the “Task Force to Promote Mental Health Education in Schools and Communities”. ~ And to Dr. Patricia Christiana, Ph.D., in private practice for 11 years in Vernon, Connecticut working with children and families.
