Safe Bedding Practices - As many as 900 baby deaths each year attributed to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) may actually be caused by suffocation in soft bedding, such as quilts, comforters, pillows and sheepskins. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is working with major retailers to campaign against unsafe bedding for infants. JCPenny's, Babies R Us, and others will no longer show see cribs made up with pillows, quilts and comforters. See the full article here: http://www.robynsnest.com/beddingnews.htm
Sharing is not something that your two-year-old will know how to do. Sharing is a concept that is not completely understood until a child is six or seven years of age. However, it is never too early to introduce the word and the concept. So when your wee ones are shrieking, "Mine, Mine!" try these helpful suggestions to encourage sharing http://www.robynsnest.com/sharing.htm.
Memorial Day weekend is the time many families open their home pools for the summer. Pool owners, especially those with young children and grandchildren, should always keep in mind the deadly hazards a pool can pose. About 350 children under 5 years old drown in pools each year nationwide and 2,600 are treated in hospital emergency rooms for near-drowning incidents. The CPSC has now released the results of their tests on pool alarms. This brief article will save you loads of time and research. http://www.robynsnest.com/poolalarm_news.htm
Separation Anxiety - Auntie Sue has come for a visit! You're so excited to show off your 7-month-old. He's so bright and friendly . You wish! In seconds he scampers between your legs and clings like a monkey, crying at the top of his lungs. You feel embarrassed. "Little Johnny is never like this," you proclaim. Then you wonder, "What happened to my lovely, happy, friendly baby?" It's Separation Anxiety and you're in the early stages of what is to come. http://www.robynsnest.com/anxiety.htm
"When it's time" - I think I read and reread every book about labor and delivery before my first child was born. I wanted to know exactly what to expect and what to do. It was an obsession! I wasn't convinced that I would know when to go to the hospital and I definitely did not want to be caught alone in the midst of childbirth! Of course, when the time actually did come, it was many hours until my son was actually in my arms. To help alleviate your anxiety about labor, check out, "When it's time" for signs and symptoms of the onset of labor. http://www.robynsnest.com/whtime.htm
Hiccups -Everyone gets the hiccups at one time or another. And for
all the times we get them, there are just as many cures. Take a look at Hiccups
