Important Recall - Graco Infant Swings We thought this one was important enough to print twice! Many parents and grandparents buy used infant products at garage sales or consignment shops and many more inherit baby items from friends or family members. Please read the following recall and check your infant swing today http://www.gracobaby.com/serv/ga3rcal7.htm! Because the issue of used baby equipment and furniture safety is so widespread, we have also published a Nursery Equipment Safety Checklist. Robyn's Nest encourages parents and parents-to-be to print this document and check your nursery for hazards. http://www.robynsnest.com/babysafety.htm

Have you ever heard of Cat Scratch Disease? When I became pregnant with our first child, I read everything about the possible hazards of babies and pets. We had a cat. You've heard the myths about cats suffocating babies and licking the faces of babies for the milk and others. Thankfully I was able to dispel the rumors, but in the process found information about an unpublicized ailment called Cat Scratch Disease http://www.robynsnest.com/catscratch.htm, which affects as many as 22,000 children annually in the United States. While the majority of cases are diagnosed in the fall/winter months, experts believe that up to 44% of cats carry this infection at some time in their lives.

As we move outdoors this spring, be aware of the threat of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease is carried by deer ticks and becomes very active and widespread in the spring months. Prevention and early detection of Lyme Disease are key in protecting our children from its devastating effects. While the ailment's origin was discovered here in (Old Lyme) Connecticut, the ticks that carry Lyme Disease are found all over the United States and other countries. Read more about Lyme Disease and how to safely remove a tick from your child's skin. http://www.robynsnest.com/lyme.htm

Curiosity and Exploration- 4 and 5 year olds are notorious for their insatiable curiosity about everything. They are curious about their bodies. They are curious about bodies of the opposite sex. They are becoming aware of the role males and females take on and need definition. They are exploring the outside world and becoming more aware of other families and the differences in family life. They want to know "why"? Prepare yourself for this very important stage of development. Read more about Curiosity and Exploration http://www.robynsnest.com/curiosity.htm

Runny nose, loss of appetite, crankiness…hmmm I wonder if it's a cold or if my baby is teething? For some children, teething signs mimic cold symptoms. It can be difficult in those cases to know what is happening until those little pearly whites appear. To assist you, we've listed teething symptoms and ways to help alleviate your child's teething pain http://www.robynsnest.com/teething.htm. We even provide a printable teething chart so you know which teeth to look for! http://www.robynsnest.com/teethingchart.htm You might also want to stop in and give visitor, Liane Sabourin some alternative home remedies for her baby's teething on our General Parenting Board: http://www.robynsnest.com/board13/
